Following a Rosacea Diet with Vitamins and Minerals

While following a rosacea diet is extremely important, vitamin and mineral supplements should also be added to help control flare-ups. Rosacea is not curable and there are a number of things that can trigger the appearance of acne rosacea patients experience. Certain minerals and vitamins have been proven effective in reducing these alarming symptoms.

As research is on-going, doctors are frequently changing their dietary suggestions. One that has been tossed around as being most helpful is the tip to take 600 milligrams of hydrochloric acid three times per day with meals. There is a strong link between those who produce little stomach acid and rosacea, and by adding hydrochloric acid to the diet for a few months, some rosacea sufferers find their skin clears up quickly. Once the skin has started to clear up, the dosage should be cut in half.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids are not only good for your heart, but there is strong evidence that the fatty acids found in cold water fish (salmon, mackerel, black cod, sardines, etc.) and in flax seeds can help reduce flare-ups by helping fight the acids in your body that cause inflammations. Many doctors urge their patients to take Omega-3 Fish Oil and Garlic capsules every day to ensure they are getting enough Omega-3 fatty acids on a daily basis. Add them to your diet and see if they help reduce flare-ups.

Sufficient evidence is being studied into the use of B vitamins, particularly riboflavin, to help the digestive system function properly. There is evidence that rosacea patients have a higher concentration of microscopic skin mites on their face, and this may allow bacteria to thrive. For some reason, the mites seem unable to thrive on a person who has a high intake of riboflavin.

Apple Cider Vinegar capsules have also shown effectiveness in creating a normal balance of stomach acids and bacteria in the intestinal track. For those rosacea sufferers who find indigestion is a frequent problem, apple cider vinegar capsules might prove effective in controlling flare ups.

Finally, Vitamin A (carrots, fish, eggs, dairy products, etc.) seem to offer some help in reducing the flare-ups that occur in rosacea patients. Rosacea sufferers who take vitamin supplements with beta carotene find that they suffer from fewer flare-ups or a milder case of rosacea than others.
